The Top Controversy: De Lima Scandal!
By: Aries Joseph Hegina INQUIRER.net 06:22 PM December 16th, 2014
“I told you so.”
"That was the mocking remark made by “jueteng” whistleblower Sandra Cam when asked on her opinion on the discovery of luxurious “kubols” or detention spaces of 19 convicts at the Maximum Security Compound in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), which was raided Monday morning by an inter-agency team led by Justice Secretary Leila de Lima.
In an interview over Radyo Inquirer 990 AM on Tuesday, Cam said that she is amused by de Lima’s reaction on its team’s discovery of luxury watches, millions of pesos in cash, still-unidentified amount of shabu, life-size sex dolls and a Jacuzzi in some of the kubols.
I am amused by de Lima’s reaction because she knows it very well when our whistleblower from the Bureau of Corrections, Kabungsuan Makilala, has revealed it already. He was removed from the Witness Protection Program because they don’t think that he is telling the truth. How can you put a mansion (inside the Bilibid) if you won’t conspire with jail guards and officers of the BuCor?) Cam Said" - Inquirer.net
So did "Kubol Scandal" mentioned in the headline triggered the said gossip? Surprisingly it was this article next from claims of Sandra Cam.

Justice Secretary Leila De Lima’s alleged illicit affairs with certain men, including a married driver, were named in an affidavit that Sandra Cam has submitted to the Commission on Appointments (CA) to oppose de Lima’s confirmation.
“Her illicit affair with Cesar Mancao has been circulating in the media for quite some time. Furthermore, reports have it that the Secretary is engaged in another illicit affair with her married driver, Ronnie Dayan,” she said.
But these issues were not not brought up when the committee deliberated on De Lima’s confirmation his Wednesday.
De Lima had earlier told the media that she would not dignify any personal issues that would be raised against her during her confirmation hearing.
(We’ll just see about that, but I’m not inclined to, you know, dignify those things.) - Inquirer.net

Did DOJ under Former Justice Secretary De Lima White wash Mamasapano?
in an article of Inquirer De Lima was criticized for the white washed of Mamasapano Masaccre where 44 SAF Commandos were brutally killed.
By: Jerome Aning Philippine Daily Inquirer 01:00 AM October 12th, 2015
"OUTGOING Justice Secretary Leila de Lima described as “very unfair” the criticism that Department of Justice (DOJ) investigators had whitewashed their probe of the Mamasapano massacre after no one was charged in the deaths of nine of the 44 police commandos who were slain in Maguindanao on Jan. 25.
The second part of the DOJ report on the Mamasapano killings did not recommend the filing of charges against anyone for the deaths of nine members of the 84th Seaborne unit of the police Special Action Force (SAF) who were killed in the operation to capture suspected terrorist Zulkifli Bin Hir, alias Marwan, and others."

"INC members say Justice Secretary De Lima is about to issue a warrant of arrest against church leaders. But lawyer Trixie Cruz Angeles says the DOJ has not even assigned a prosecutor to the case."
"In a news conference on Wednesday, August 26, INC general evangelist Brother Bienvenido Santiago said De Lima oversaw the filing of Samson’s complaint.
Questioning the justice chief’s motive, Santiago said De Lima devoted extraordinary attention to Samson’s case.
“Siya pa mismo ang personal na nag-asikaso sa naturang reklamo,” the INC official said. (She herself, in fact, personally facilitated this complaint.)
Serafin Cuevas Jr, in an interview over the religious denomination's television channel NET 25 on Saturday, August 29, also hit De Lima's apparent "partiality, bias, and prejudice against the church, more particularly against the respondents."
Pointing to the special attention she has given the complaint of Samson, Cuevas said in Filipino, "The filing and receiving of a criminal complaint of a person can be done before a prosecutor… Or it can simply be received at the docket and be brought later to a prosecutor on duty for the swearing in." But instead, De Lima personally appeared to the Samson family, as reported on national television.
Cuevas said that given circumstances, they couldn't help but think De Lima "wants something from INC" in relation to the 2016 elections."-rappler
De Lima on being a magnet of controversy: ‘So be it’
By: Maila Ager INQUIRER.net 04:54 PM September 23rd, 2015
“I NEVER want to be controversial,” Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said on Wednesday, reacting to a lawyer who spoke out that she was using the arrest of the Reyes brothers to get media exposure.
Lawyer Ferdinand Topacio, counsel for former Palawan Governor Joel Reyes and brother, Coron Mayor Mario Reyes, who were both accused in the death of broadcast journalist Gerry Ortega, lamented that “many are jumping in to make ‘epal’ on the repatriation” of his clients. He specifically mentioned the names of Senate President Franklin Drilon and de Lima.
“There we are again. You know these things just fall on my lap. I mean bakit every time na gagawin ko ang trabaho ko, ganun ang sinasabi, nakiki-ride?”
“I am not that kind of person. Now, if I become controversial because of my handling and involvement in certain high profile cases, that’s only coincidental.” - inquirer.net
